Maybe it is the due to the growing intrusion of technology into our lives that encourages a corresponding insularity that partly accounts for the rise of disinterest in sex among teenage boys and young adult men (“OMG! - ⅓ of male teens averse or indifferent to sex” January 14, 2011). Maybe it’s no wonder what with the many decades of feminist ideology many developed societies have already been exposed to. There are so many mixed messages. On the one hand society is more libertine than it has ever been. Sex is good, healthy, normal and available. But at the same time more and more rules are imposed on us to regulate sex. Every culture has always featured regulatory codes regarding our fecundity. But maybe modern men and women are just giving up on each other - as well as the institutions of marriage and parenthood, too - in greater numbers because of the spiraling increase of regulations - especially negative ones. There are so many don’ts involved with modern females that more and more of us - not me, but some others - can’t even think about, look at, touch, or - heaven forbid - actually have intercourse with women without risking unemployment, prosecution and prison. It is a lot simpler and safer to stay at home and livecelibate, or buy sex, or else cultivate a profound fantasy life - something which otaku culture here lends itself to.
